After diagnosis and treatment planning, our top priority in this process is making you comfortable. To ensure this, we will give you a local anesthetic. Once it has taken effect, we will remove decay from the tooth. Then it will be ready for direct or indirect restoration.
A direct restoration treatment is a procedure that can likely restore the tooth during a single visit. This requires sufficient tooth to contain the filling properly. For an indirect filling, the restoration is actually performed outside of the mouth, either by a lab or by a milling machine. An indirect filling also needs to be cemented into place. This process typically takes two or appointments to complete.
