Consideration and tips after receiving crowns or bridges.

Sensitivity:

Patients frequently report sensitivity, particularly to cold following treatment. It will be preferred to avoid hot or cold foods and beverages for the first few days. As the anesthesia wears off, It is normal to experience discomfort due to the procedure. An analgesic including Tylenol or Advil will help to make you feel more comfortable.

Dr. Friess recommends rinsing with warm salt water by dissolving 1/2 teaspoon of salt into an 8 oz. glass of warm water, this will help promote healing and reduce the likelihood of infection.

Final Crown or Bridge:

After we cement your permanent crown or bridge into place, it may take a few days to get used to it. After a few days, if your bite still feels unbalanced, please be sure to call our office for an appointment for a simple adjustment.

Home Care:

Many patients do not realize that the underlying tooth is still vulnerable to decay, especially at the interface between the tooth and crown. At Hearthstone Dental, we will advise you on how important it is to resume regular brushing and flossing immediately. Daily oral hygiene and being aware of your diet will increase the longevity of your new restorations.
